Halloween 2011

This year we got to go out with our wonderful neighbors and take Syd trick-or-treating. It was so much fun to see how our neighborhood celebrates Halloween. Next year will be even more fun when she is more aware of what is going on.

More Baby Boots

I just finished another pair of baby boots for Syd. The first pair I made were my testers. They are so cute, but I realized that after the first set, I need to change how they stay on Syd's feet. To help them stay on, I added elastic running through the two layers of fabric on both pairs. It made such a big difference in how they stay. YAY for me!

6 Month Check-Up

Took Syd to the doctor on Wednesday for her 6 month check-up. Syd has been gaining skills by the day. She can now roll over on to her belly and roll back both ways, reaches for items, can pass items from one hand to another, babbles uncontrollably, and working on sitting up on her own.
The doctor says she looks great. She is VERY aware of her surroundings and very social. So much so that she started crying with the doctor. This may not seem odd to most, but Syd has been crying more often with people she knows but doesn't see often, like the grandpa's. The doctor says that Syd being this aware of who she is with, or as we say stranger danger, is closer to a 9 month skill. I guess that is a good thing.
Syd also got her 6 month shots. They went fine and she did not get sick after, which was great! The entire appointment went well. We found out that Syd weighs 15.6 lbs. (45%) and is 26.7 inches long (80%). This means that she is extra long and average weight for her age. To us, this just means that all of her 6 month jammies are going to get too small very quickly : )
We did however get one bit of startling news about Syd...she has a heart murmur. Heart murmurs are very common in babies, but we were a little surprised because she was not born with one and with all the other appointments that we have gone in for, they have never found it before. Due to the deep sound it is sending out, they scheduled us for an Eco at River Bend on Monday. Hopefully we will learn more about what is going on and find out that everything will be ok. Wish us luck!

Baby Boots

I was inspired to try and make some shoes for Syd. I decided that I was going to try and make some boots. I looked online for some ideas and this is what I came up with. I am very happy with them and can't wait to make another couple pairs in plain brown and herringbone pattern.

Starting off the new year

As my new years resolution, I am going to go back to updating our blog. When this was first created it was for my pregnancy, but now that Sydney is here, we have decided to make it a family blog with fun updates for all to read about.
